Fine hair Questions

Fine Hair

Question

My mother always says she has fine hair, what is fine hair and how do you look after it?

Answer

In hairdressing terms, when we talk of fine hair we refer to the thickness of each individual strand of hair. Fine hair can become flyaway and difficult to manage. Fine hair is also more delicate so needs to be treated very gently. She needs to take care not to overstretch the hair when it is wet, or not to use heat on the hair. She will not want to put any added stress on the hair. If he does it will become dry, flyaway and unmanageable.

My hair is very fine and soft. My hairstyle goes flat the day after visiting the beauty shop. How do I keep body in my style?

Answer

Ask your stylist to use a styling lotion and then use a good hairspray that is light enough not to weigh your hair down, but firm enough to hold it. Razzamatazz Design spray is a great aerosol spray that is eco and ozone friendly.

Hair Care

Hi, and welcome to our discussion on hair care, I have asked nearly 200 people what their hare care problems are, and I am delighted to have Diana Dudas here to answer them. Diana has more than 28 years experience in the field of hair care and skin care. She has answered over 3000 questions for allexperts.com and has had her works published in many well-respected magazines. She has her own website at …WWW.RAZZAMATAZZ.NET………………….

The questions covered all aspects of hair conditions and problems, from Frizzy flyaway hair to the serious problem of hair loss. Diana answers them all and where appropriate recommends products that can alleviate the problem. Let’s face it most hair problems are due to abusing your hair with heated hair straighteners, chemicals and hair dyes to try and enhance the look of our hair.

Remember the key to beautiful shiny hair is to have healthy hair so just how do we achieve that?

Firstly let’s start with what hair actually is:

Hair is actually dead material, mostly keratin with 3 (sometimes only 2) layers.

The outer layer is called the cuticle which consists of several layers of flat, thin cells laid out overlapping one another like roof shingles,
The middle layer is the cortex, which contains the keratin bundles in cell structures that remain roughly rod-like; and give the hair its strength. The cortex also contains melanin which gives hair its color
The innermost layer is called the medulla and is a collection of round cells and is always found in coarse hair but often missing altogether in fine and naturally blond hair.
The hair itself is grown in the hair follicle which produces protein to grow the hair and the shape of the follicle determines the shape of the cortex, the fibrous inner layer, and the shape of this fiber is related to how straight or curly the hair is. For example Asian hair typically has a round fiber and is quite straight whereas oval and other irregularly-shaped fibers are generally wavier or even curly.
The diameter of human hair varies from 17 to 180 micrometers (0.00067 to 0.0071 in)

Each follicle has a sebaceous gland which secretes sebum, a natural oil that waterproofs and protects your skin and hair but it is smelly and attracts dirt. So it’s a balance of looking clean and not damaging your hair and skin by frequent shampooing, in fact too much washing your hair with shampoo can stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce even more sebum! In modern society it is unacceptable to be smelly and dirty so we wash much more often than our predecessors so use gentle shampoos like the pH balance shampoos or give your hair a rest and use dry shampoos between wet shampoo days.

Rinse your hair after shampooing with cool water; this gives it a good shine

Brush your hair before you go to bed each night. Brush from the back to the front. Repeat 50 times, 100 for longer or thicker hair. This will help remove dirt and other debris that has built up through the day. It is also good for improving circulation in your scalp which will produce the natural oils needed for better hair growth.
A balanced diet is vital for healthy hair. If your hair is looking dull and lifeless, it could be that you are deficient in vitamin B. Take a good VITAMIN B COMPLEX. Try to avoid caffeine and alcohol, as these will deplete the body of healthy vitamins and are also dehydrating. Fish is packed with Omega-3 fatty acids which support scalp health and keeps your hair healthy. Fruit and vegetables that contain Vitamin A and Vitamin C are also good for hair follicles that produce the sebum, that is a natural conditioner for your hair.

And use a wide toothed comb or brush to brush your hair with, so it is less likely to damage your hair.

Follow these basic principles to keep your hair healthy
