Perms Questions
Perms
Question
How damaging are Perms and how do you make them last?
Answer
Perms can be drying on the hair. If you get perms make sure that you use professional hair care products that are specifically designed for chemically treated hair. To make them last you need to keep the hair in optimum condition and have a light trim every six weeks.
Specific questions from our survey
Question
I had a curly permanent that just came out fuzzy. It is over coloured and my set will not last. What should I do?
Answer
Use a heavy conditioner or hair repair treatment kit. Before setting your hair use a liquid styling gel that is alcohol free. It will also help to get a trim. Your set will not last as your hair has lost it’s elasticity and moisture. A treatment will help to improve elasticity and restore moisture.
Can you suggest a product? Razzamatazz Jellee and hair repair treatment kit.
Question
I am a black woman, and I want my edges to grow longer while trying to grow my perm out. Is this possible?
Answer
This is possible, try to get a trim on the ends every 8-10 weeks, if not the ends will appear stringy and will split. Use a non-chemcial hair straightener on the rest of your hair this will reduce the amount of curl and even out the texture of your hair whilst it is growing out. Do not use oils on your hair. Use professional moisturizing treatment shampoos and conditioners.
