Colouring hair
Question
What products are best for colouring hair, and what damage is done to the hair in the process? Are there no-no’s for dying hair certain colours, for example is it wise to colour your hair black if you are blond or vice versa.
Answer
The best colours for your hair are professional colours that are only used in salons. In my opinion over the counter products are the most harmful to your hair.
Bleach is also harmful as it is designed to strip colour from your hair. Whereas hair dye will lift your hair a couple of shades and then deposit tone.
No-no’s are having a colour that does not suit your skin tone. There are times when you can get away with it, but it would normally mean wearing make-up to compliment your new colour.

Question
What’s the easiest way to get even highlights in the back of your hair when colouring it yourself at home?
Answer
This is a very difficult task and there is no easy way to do it yourself. You are best to go to a salon.
Question
I have natural brown/black hair that is heavier on the black side than the reddish tints associated with the brown. I have to use natural black to cover my grey and would like to know the best way to start gradually changing my hair to incorporate some of my grey without looking frumpy.
Answer
The best way to do this is to add some hi ltes to your hair in a lighter brown colour. Stop doing all over hair colour and as your roots start to show, just add more hi lites. You will gradually get an all over lighter appearance with a gradual increase in grey hair. Once you have reached the percentage of grey that is acceptable to you . You can add colour to please yourself.
